Encouraging cycling at The Junction

People staying at Derventio’s newest project, The Junction, now have somewhere to securely store their bicycles thanks to Life Cycle UK’s Take a Stand scheme.

The scheme works with local authorities, including Derby City Council, to provide access to free high-quality cycle stands to businesses, voluntary organisations and community groups. We successfully applied for five cycle stands which are now in use at The Junction, our short-term accommodation project in Derby where people can get to know more about us before moving into our supported housing.

Cycling is a low cost and flexible way to get around. Having somewhere to safey store their bicycles onsite will encourage people living at The Junction to continue or even to start cycling. It will also help them to feel more welcome and secure during their time with the project.

It may even inspire some people to go to the bike club at our Growing Lives project, where they can learn the skills to build a bike from scratch, keep it in good condition with repairs and maintenance and enjoy group bike rides.

We aim to make our services as accessible and user-friendly as we can, and these cycle stands are a real boost to the The Junction. A huge thank you to Life Cycle UK for making this possible.
