Fundraise
Running your own fundraising activity can be a fun, creative and rewarding way to really help people who are homeless.
The money you raise will directly help someone who has experienced homelessness or is at risk of being homeless. Whether you raise £10 or £10,000, every penny will make a difference.
There are countless ways you can raise money. It could involve anything from organising an office sweepstake to going on a sponsored bike ride - be as creative as you like. The most important thing is that you stay safe and have fun.

Need a little inspiration?
Here are a few of our favourite ways to raise money. Don’t limit yourself to our suggestions though. Just use your imagination and go for it!
- Woolly hat day (get everyone at your school or workplace to make a small donation to wear a woolly hat for a whole day)
- Give up a luxury (give something up for a month and get people to sponsor your efforts)
- Night walk (organise a sponsored walk underneath the stars – remember to stay safe and always in groups)
You can set up your own fundraising page with Localgiving.

Joe’s Epic Bike Ride
Joe Hodgkins pedalled the entire distance from Land’s End in Cornwall to John O’Groats in Scotland in aid of Derventio which helped him free himself from spiralling debt problems in his early 20s.
It was a weird situation that I was in, because there was nothing especially big that happened. It was the accumulation of lots of little things, and I was in quite a bit of financial hardship. Being able to just rent somewhere was impossible. I really get on with my family but they didn’t have a spare room to put me up in.
Through Derventio I was able to secure a room in shared accommodation and sort things out.
Joe has never forgotten the help he received through Derventio and showed his gratitude by cycling the entire length of the country, supported by his partner and daughter who travelled up the country with him, sleeping many nights in a hired camper van.
It was an amazing adventure. It was the best thing I’ve ever done, the biggest achievement. By the end, my body had conditioned itself and it was more of a mental battle.
The only organisation I wanted to raise money for was Derventio as they helped me in the past. Their support meant I could get my life back on track.
