Derventio is a local organisation. Every generous action directly impacts the lives of people sleeping rough, escaping an abusive relationship, poor mental health or the grip of drugs and alcohol.

Easter Egg Appeal

This Easter we want to ensure that all the people living in Derventio Housing Trust’s supported housing have a cracking time!

Many residents are starting again after losing their homes, livelihoods, or support networks, and struggle with trauma, poor health, and financial hardship.

While many celebrate with family and friends, for residents in our supported housing small treats like Easter eggs and chocolate are often out of reach. This Easter we want to change that and we’re asking for your help.

These small gifts can make a world of difference to someone who would otherwise go without.

Donations can be dropped off during working hours at Derventio Housing Trust, Unit 5, Peter Baines Industrial Park, Woods Lane, Derby DE22 3UD.

We are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Sylvester’s Fund

Your gift to Sylvester’s Fund will provide direct support and services so that people can make positive changes. Please donate today – and make sure homeless people are given the support they need to transform lives.

We guarantee that every penny directly helps the people who need it most. None of it ends up in our corporate coffers.

£16 buys an essential birth certificate as ID
£30 buys a basic phone so people can keep in touch with their doctor, Job Centre Plus and other services and stay connected
£50 buys a second-hand fridge or a van to transport a donated sofa
£200 buys household items or appliances so someone can settle into their new home when they move on from supported housing

If you would prefer to donate by post please make cheques payable to Derventio Housing Trust CIC and post it to us at Derventio Housing Trust, Glad Tidings Hall, 33 Boyer Street, Derby DE22 3TB. Please write your name and address on the back of the cheque so we can say thank you.

Donation Fees

We use Localgiving as our fundraising platform. Localgiving provides a secure platform for your donation. For donations under £200, donors are invited to add a voluntary tip to support Localgiving’s service. For donations over £200, a 5% platform fee applies, which is either deducted from your donation or can be covered by you at checkout.

Payment processing fees also apply: the most cost-effective option is a UK debit card (1.9% + 20p per transaction). For example, on a £10 donation using a UK debit card, we receive approximately £9.61 after fees.

Donate useful items

We work with people who have come into difficult times and are struggling to get by. Others have been homeless for years and it may have been a long time since they slept in a warm bed. These items may seem simple and inexpensive but mean a lot to people who have few items of their own.

Our funding and Housing Benefit income covers our housing and support services. But we rely on donations to provide people with essential items like those listed below. The items we find most useful are:

Non-perishable food (tins & packets, tinned meals, tea & coffee, sugar, soup, cereals, treats)
Toiletries (we particularly need deodorant, dental care, razors & shaving gel)
Clear storage boxes
Phones, tablets or laptops to help people stay connected

If you have any clothes, household items or perishable food that you would like to donate, please contact your local homelessness charity.

You can also buy useful items though our Give Today shop. Everything you buy will be sent directly to us and given to the people who need it the most.

Donate items for Growing Lives

Growing Lives gives people a way to learn new skills in a relaxed and friendly setting. We always welcome donations of any good quality items which can be used for arts and crafts, outdoor, computer-related, music or other similar activities. Useful items include:

Garden tools (things like spades, gardening gloves, plant pots, seed trays, plant labels)
Paint, paper, card, chalk, pens or crayons
Tools (for example, hammers, screwdrivers, allen keys, spanners)
Bicycles and cycle parts
