Essential food for people who are struggling

More than 120 people using Derventio’s services are being provided with essential food packs thanks to support from Foundation Derbyshire and the Asda Foundation.

The people we work with face multiple challenges such as mental ill health, drug/alcohol issues, learning disabilities or offending behaviour. Because of their health and income inequalities, many do not eat regular healthy meals. These food packs will be a welcome source of food and comfort for people who, alongside their existing issues, have faced increased anxiety and isolation as a result of the coronavirus crisis.

Support workers who work closely with residents will identify who is most in need of this type of support. They will personally deliver the food packs to ensure they get where they are intended.

This has been made possible by Foundation Derbyshire’s Winter Foodbank programme, who have made a grant of £1,000 to reach people living in Derby and Ilkeston.

We were also awarded a grant of £600 from the Asda Foundation to provide food parcels for people accessing our employability projects.
