Over 30 people already helped thanks to your donations to the Sylvester’s Fund Christmas Appeal

Since January, 34 people have been helped through Sylvester’s Fund thanks to your support. Set up with a donation from former Derventio resident Sylvester Cichowski, Sylvester’s Fund means that people facing homelessness can buy essential items that they need. This could be second-hand furniture or white goods, an important document such as a birth certificate or something they might need for a hobby or interest.

In December we ran a Christmas Appeal to raise money for the fund – and your support has already made a difference to nearly 20 people this year.

Some people have bought a phone so they can stay in touch with support staff, friends and family. Several people were able to buy essential household items and furniture so they can move out of supported accommodation and into long-term housing. One person used the fund to attend a Diet and Nutrition Advisor course to help him on his journey to becoming a Personal Fitness Training Instructor. The course will boost his confidence and give him more of a chance to be successful in his chosen field.

All of the items bought through the Sylvester’s Fund will have a big impact on people who have faced homelessness and other challenges in their lives. Thank you for your support.
