We love receiving positive feedback from residents especially when it highlights the dedication and impact our staff have on resident’s lives 💙

One resident recently shared wonderful feedback about the support they received from Housing & Support Officer Carla during their time with Derventio Housing Trust.

A huge well done to Carla for delivering such outstanding service and making a real difference 👏

What a fantastic group! Despite sleet, hail, snow, thunder, and winds strong enough to knock you off your feet, the Growing Lives participants lent a hand at Wild Maple Field near Wirksworth yesterday.

In March 2023, inspired in part by the BBC Wild Isles series, a crazy idea to turn the field off Summer Lane into a wildlife haven became Wild Maple Field. The name is inspired by a very old wild field maple which self-seeded into some rock on the slope. This plucky tree has seen a lot of change and the hope is that over the coming years it will live on to see a lot more as the team strive to increase the biodiversity of the wildlife that surrounds it.

Joining forces with the Wild Peak Project run by Derbyshire Wildlife Trust in conjunction with Rewilding Britain, this is one of over 50 projects all working hard to improve the landscape in the Wild Peak and to work towards building a more connected landscape.

Participants at Growing Lives were delighted to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in, helping the ongoing transformation of this little corner of the world on the edge of Wirksworth.

As the team at Wild Maple Field say themselves, just under 11 acres on the edge of Wirksworth won’t change the world but small steps is what Growing Lives is all about.

A safe, supportive space Growing Lives is where people in recovery or facing other challenges can build skills, improve wellbeing and feel part of a community.

From creative activities and gardening to cooking, IT and peer support, the project helps people reduce isolation, improve health and take steps towards training, education or employment.

As part of Derventio Housing Trust, Growing Lives bridges the gap between homelessness and independent living, providing encouragement and stability for lasting change.
