Growing Lives Impact Report 2024–25 shows positive change through community, skills and support

Derventio Housing Trust has published its Growing Lives Impact Report for 2024–25, sharing the powerful difference the project continues to make for people facing isolation, poor mental health and other challenges.

Growing Lives is a welcoming, supportive space where people can build skills, improve wellbeing and feel part of a community. Over the past year, 50 people took part in the project, engaging in creative activities, practical workshops, cooking, gardening, bike club, IT sessions and employability support.

The report highlights how structured activities, peer connection and one to one support help people regain confidence, reduce isolation and take positive steps forward. Many participants face multiple barriers, including mental ill health, substance use and loneliness, but with the right support, are able to rebuild their lives at their own pace.

Key outcomes from 2024–25 include:

  • Over half of participants reporting improved mental health, physical health and confidence
  • 61% feeling less socially isolated and more connected to others
  • 67% feeling optimistic about their future
  • Nearly nine in ten gaining practical skills, with many moving closer to training, education or work

Alongside the data, the report shares participants’ stories that bring the impact of Growing Lives to life. From people rebuilding confidence after bereavement or homelessness to those reducing substance use and reconnecting with others, these stories show how belonging, routine and encouragement can be transformative.

Growing Lives is part of Derventio Housing Trust’s wider offer, providing meaningful opportunities alongside supported housing to help people move towards more secure, independent futures.
