Exciting plans for the Growing Lives garden
The Growing Lives garden will soon have an outdoor kitchen and new greenhouse thanks to new funding.
Gardening is one of the most popular activities at Growing Lives. We use it to grow plants and flowers, grow produce that we use for cooking and learn about the local wildlife that visits the garden and pond. It’s also a calm, relaxing space to spend time in and enjoy.
It will soon be even better thanks to two exciting new grants.
Derbyshire County Council have awarded us a grant to install a greenhouse and buy tools and equipment such as trowels, plant pots, seed trays and propagators, as well as funding towards a tutor to provide ongoing support and mentoring.
The Morrisons Foundation have given the project the funds to build an outdoor kitchen – where people can cook the food grown on site, develop their cookery skills and learn about nutrition and healthy eating.
Spending time outdoors has so many great benefits, and we are really looking forward to getting started on these new schemes this summer.
