Successful open afternoon at Growing Lives
29 Jun 2018
This week we welcomed around 50 supporters, funders, partner agencies, potential new participants and neighbours to an open afternoon at Growing Lives. We were also joined by Cllr Chris Corbett and Mrs Linda Corbett, the Mayor and Mayoress of Erewash, and our patron the Rt Revd Alastair Redfern, the Bishop of Derby.
Guests met people who come to Growing Lives and staff to find out more about the project, see some of the activities in action, try out some crafts for themselves and enjoy the garden in the beautiful sunshine.
Staff and people who come to Growing Lives worked hard in the days leading up to event, baking cakes, decorating the site with handmade bunting and creating a range of arts and crafts items to go on sale. The garden was in full bloom with flowers, vegetables and herbs all growing well, and participants were on hand in the workshop to show the bicycles they are working on as part of the bike club.
It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase Derventio’s projects and to meet and mingle with people from the community. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended and made the day such a success.
Here is some feedback from the day:
Gill Quayle – Derbyshire County Council Adult Care
Anna Clyne – MTH Consulting
Sarah Bull – Stakeholder Manager, Building Better Opportunities, Nottingham City
