How We Help

Talent Match

As part of the Talent Match programme, Derventio Housing Trust is working with people aged 18 to 24 who are disadvantaged and struggling to find career opportunities.

The programme boosts opportunities for young people who are furthest from the labour market – opening up doors for training, volunteering and employment in their local area.

We are part of the scheme in Derbyshire, working with people in deprived areas in Amber Valley, Erewash and Glossop. We aim to support just over 80 young people in a year.

What We Offer

Access to work and training

We have links with a wide range of local employers who can offer young people training, work placements, volunteering or help to secure a job.

One-to-one advice and mentoring

A mentor spends time with the young person to talk about what's preventing them from getting a job. They give the young person personalised advice and support.

Mentoring and Befriending Approved Provider StandardTalent Match meets the Approved Provider Standard (APS) for Mentoring and Befriending, accredited by NCVO.

Links to other support

We will help the young people to access other services that could help them - for example if they need support dealing with LGBT issues, or want some advice on getting out of debt.

Personal budget

The young person will have access to a personal budget - a pot of money they can use to help them get a job. They can spend it on things like travel costs, training, equipment or clothes.
