Derventio calls out for votes to bag a share of Tesco's bag fund

Derventio Housing Trust is bidding to bag a massive cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative.

Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch its community funding scheme, which sees grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 raised from carrier bag sales in Tesco stores awarded to local community projects.

Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and shoppers are being invited to head along to Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.

Derventio Housing Trust is one of the names on the shortlist. If we are awarded a Bags of Help grant it will go towards our Ilkeston-based Growing Lives project, which offers a range of skill-building activities including gardening, cookery and arts with support to reduce isolation and improve confidence, health and wellbeing. The grant would buy essential materials for participants to use in these activities, such as baking trays and paints.

Voting for Growing Lives and the other two projects is open in six local Tesco Extra and Tesco Express stores during September and October. Customers can cast their vote using a token given to them at the check-out in store each time they shop.

You can vote for us in the following stores during September and October:

Alton Manor Tesco Express in Belper
Codnor Tesco Express
Eastwood Notts Road Tesco Express
Ilkeston Chalons Way Tesco Extra
Ilkeston Tesco Express, Nottingham Road
West Hallam Tesco Express, The Dales Shopping Centre

Please support us in your local store!
